Runners Raise Over $10,000 for Charity at DSBN Road Race
More than 1,000 pairs of feet hit the pavement for a good cause at this year’s annual DSBN Road Race. Enthusiastic participants took part in either the 1 km Fun Run or the 5 km Road Race.
When the final tally was recorded, the organizing committee was pleased to announce that over $10,000 of much needed funding had been raised and would be shared evenly by the Education Foundation of Niagara and Niagara Nutrition Partners. Funds were raised through the entry fees of participants, and by support from sponsors especially title sponsor PenFinancial Credit Union.
Both organizations assist in supporting breakfast programs in schools by helping to organize volunteers and purchasing food for the programs. “Starting the day with a healthy breakfast gives children the nutrition and energy needed to be effective learners in school. Everyone was thrilled to make such a significant contribution to these organizations that do so much to support students in Niagara,” said organizer Scott Enns.
Race results are posted at dsbnroadrace.com; a photo gallery from the day will be posted shortly.
