Educational Workshop to Focus on Technology in the Classroom
Social networking, weblogs, wikis, RSS, audiocasts and other web 2.0 technologies are quickly changing the way students learn and interact with each other.
On Wednesday, May 20, secondary teachers and administrators at the DSBN will get some additional insight on how to further incorporate today’s technologies into the classroom to create rich learning environments for students.
During two half-day sessions, Will Richardson, author of “Blogs, Wikis and Podcasts” will be discussing the importance of preparing students to be critical and creative consumers and authors of technology. On his blog, Richardson asserts that schools should help prepare students for the “highly complex” interactions they will be having online as adults.
“From Smartboards to Virtual Learning, we are constantly looking at ways to integrate new technologies into the classroom to support student learning,” says Paula Mackinnon, School Support Services Administrator. “It’s something students have shown an interest in, and it is important that we meet them on their level.”
