Caretakers Day

Caring. Supportive. Dedicated. These are just a few of the words that DSBN students, staff and community members use to describe the caretaking staff at their schools.

While our caretakers take great pride in their work and contribute greatly to the health and safety of our schools, they do so much more. The reality is that caretakers are one of our schools greatest resources.

They are the first ones in the building, and often, the last ones to leave. They make our students and parents feel welcome in their school, and contribute to a shared sense of school pride by insisting on high standards in maintaining our facilities.

Teachers always know they can rely on their caretaker for support, especially when a child is sick; they always come to the rescue! They also do much of the heavy lifting, moving boxes and furniture to help teachers create bright and vibrant learning spaces for students.

Always quick to offer a smile or kind word, our caretakers also build tremendous rapport with students, helping to brighten their day and boost self-esteem.

For everything they do, all the teachers, principals and administrators at the DSBN would like to extend their warmest thanks on Caretakers Appreciation Day 2009.
