Ola from El Salvador!
The first DSBNi Habitat for Humanity build is underway! We are pleased to report that the DSBN students and staff arrived safely in El Salvador on Saturday and are settling in to their new environment.
The group visited an orphanage on Sunday morning which is approximately 40 minutes away from their base in Zacatecoluca and in the afternoon, they went to a nature park where they climbed a mountain, going partway by van then reaching the peak, through the clouds, on foot. It was a memorable day for everyone.
On Monday, students and teachers completed the footings on the new home and will begin pouring the concrete.
There have been some technical difficulties accessing the internet and making international calls. Any parents who want to contact their child and who are experiencing difficulty are asked to call either the school principal or the Director’s office at 905 641-1550, ext. 4101.
Those interested in receiving regular updates on students’ progress in El Salvador are invited to view the team’s blog, which is updated daily athttp://building-inspires-gratitude.blogspot.com/
Gracias!
