Eastdale Students Get “Money Smart”

Students at Eastdale Secondary School are watching their hard earned dollars a little closer these days.

The school recently received a crash course in smart money management from professional comedian James Cunningham. The “Funny Money for High Schools” program is designed to teach students the fundamentals of personal finances, including how to manage their saving, spending and debt.

“In this presentation, I try to show students how to control their money and not let their money control them,” said Cunningham.

Sonja Regier, Head of Eastdale’s Math Department, said “especially in today’s economy, it is essential for students to have a solid understanding of personal finance and how they can begin planning for their futures. I am sure that seeing James speak will open the doors to many important conversations about money management.”
