DSBN Teachers Showcase Artistic Talents
Visual art teachers from schools across the District School Board of Niagara will be exhibiting their artwork in the Masterworks Art Show beginning October 27, 2009. Over 30 works of art in a variety of media will be on display at the DSBN Education Centre in St. Catharines.
DSBN Arts Consultant Gerda Klassen says the show is an important way for teachers to share their work with students, colleagues and members of the public. "This exhibition is an ideal venue for teachers to show students they are actively involved in the subject they teach. It also provides an excellent opportunity to engage students in meaningful discussions about the arts outside the classroom.”
Visitors are encouraged to visit the free show at the Education Centre on Carlton Street daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The community is also invited to attend the opening event on Tuesday, October 27 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Those in attendance on Tuesday will also be treated to the sounds of the St. Catharines Collegiate students’ jazz combo.
